| When the respected US publication TRACK AND FIELD NEWS reviewed the decade 2000-2009, it named Brigitte as the best athlete in her event, the 100-metre hurdles. To earn that honour, the Jamaican won a full set of World Championships medals, culminating with her hard fought 2009 victory. She also reached two Olympic finals, in 2000 and 2008. To cap everything off, the St. Elizabeth Technical High School graduate skipped to success in the 2003 Pan-Am Games and the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Along the way, she has taken control of the national record of 12.45 and accounted for 8 of the 10 fastest times run in the event by Jamaicans.
Behind the statistics is a steely determination that has helped her bounce back from injuries that wiped out any hope of a 2007 season. |
